Roös Atelier provides insights to the creative works of Dr Phillip Barend Roös, beyond his multi-disciplinary practice as an academic, architect, environmentalist and author. As a contemporary ecological artist he explores the link between our past, present, and future connections to life through the practice of painting and drawing. His artistic practice is deeply rooted in the philosophy of wholeness, raising questions of human conscience as well as current global social and environmental issues.
My recent work has been an in-depth search to discover how we as humans dwell and engage within the natural landscape. I like to think that the works on large paper scrolls upon which I assemble my thoughts, feelings and expressive interpretation of the environment represent a kind of a story about the current state of the Earth.
Recent Exhibition: THE UNFOLDING Held at the Paper Mill Gallery from 17 March - 4 April 2022, part of the Geelong Design Week 2022.
